|
|
I need to write a statement of purpose for a grad school application. I've never done anything like this, and I'm finding it nerve-wracking just thinking about it.
I'm generally a decent writer, but terrible at writing about myself. I can't think of any memorable accomplishments in my life (other than sporting achievements) and my work experience is pretty much all teaching, which has nothing to do with what I want to study.
Maybe I'm just being too modest... I don't know. How did you go about writing a statement of purpose?? |

Be honest.
You want your post-grad university seat time documented so it may be passed off as something valuable to a prospective employer. |

Ugh, I hate writing that kind of stuff. It always sounds either too sappy or just full of false modesty.
I think the other poster is right, just be sincere, connect your statement to some legitimate emotions/goals.

Tell what you want to do with the degree, why you want to, and what's prepared you to do it. and relate it both to the area of study, and something unique or notable for the school.....
probably would help to know what area you plan on studying for further help, as I don't there's many grad degrees in general studies.... I could be mistaken, though. |
