|
|
Has anyone seen wiki's 'anti-Korean sentiment' page? With all the "they don't like us because we beat them at sports and because we're loosely associated with N. Korea", there seems to be nothing which indicates that some (quite a bit) of anti-korean sentiment has protracted, verifiable, and legitimate causes.
No mention of Vietnam, Cambodia, Mongolia, and the Philippines either.

I've heard little bits of this from Korean friends.
When Koreans feel they've been cheated in some international sports thing, like the Olympics or World Cup, they will sometimes put it down to some anti-Korean sentiment they perceive from the international community.
I think it's just victim-mentality and self-centered rubbish. |

they seem to confuse anti koreanism for political issues between countries.
The only real antagonism towards Korea I know generally seems to come from people who live here or who have lived here. They (workers in Korea) seem to be held in a rather silly state where they are kept at arms length by protectionist policies and abused by Korean employers while being asked never to complain.
A similar respect Koreans do not extend to other countries (nor do the Chinese or the Japanese - at least when dealing with Korea). Koreans are apt to scream and cry and hold crazy rallies about the mis deeds of others. Based on the wiki page this might come across as anti non-Korean.
Hyper nationalism in Asia seems to be the root cause of anti----whatever it is....they all do it, so it can't really be called anti Korean. It's anti other countries. The Chinese, the Koreans and the Japanese all play this stupid socio-political game with each other, they are all overly nationalistic and blind to the realities of each other.
The Chinese have no clue what they are really doing to the Tibetans or the crap they are trying to sell the world, The Japanese have no clue how mis informed they are about Korea and their occupation, and the Koreans point there fingers both ways claiming the other is doing something wrong.....The Chinese are selling them copied products (which the Koreans first copied from Japan and the Japanese first copied from the West), The Japanese are stealing Dok-do, and the Americans are trying to poison them with Beef.
Harldy anti Korean...just juvenile behaviour on an internationl scale. |

It's odd, but in Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, several girls from those places who had never been to Korea mentioned a general dislike for Korean men after I told them I had lived there. They were all fine about dating or even marrying a foreign man, but said not a Korean one. I found it amusing. I think they mentioned a perception of rudeness or arrogance that some of the Korean guys display abroad, especially in poorer countries. And I think it is pretty well-known that many Koreans generally look down on southeast Asia and China as well. Hell, they seem to dislike most of the world for some crazy reason! |

While there are legitimate reasons to criticise South Korea, the vast majority of "anti-Koreanism" is based on ignorance and moronity/"they have small eyes hur hur." Same goes for anti-any country. |
