Seems to be the only importer of American products other than AAFES for the US Army.

I ordered chipotle powder on Gmarket sometime last year. Haven't searched
for it lately, but at that time I bought a 33 gram pack for about 9,000won.

Something I have noticed when trying to get foreign food products on Gmarket is to dive a little deeper into the listings, to click on the actual seller and view that particular companies products rather than scrolling through the Gmarket search results. On that particular case, I know I had searched for chipotle powder in the past and nothing came up, but later checked out a particular seller who had the powder in their list of products, but did not advertise it individually on Gmarket.

Nope. They just have black pepper or containers of gochujang.

I'm pretty sure Foreign Food Market in Itaewon will have it. If not, it's always worth checking a few weeks later, because they aren't well-stocked on most things and they run out frequently.

Hyundai Dept. Store grocery at the Coex has a great selection of foreign foods, including spices and seasonings, so that's another good place to check. Most of the Sinsegae Dept Stores, for example the one at Express Bus Term also have pretty good selection of spices. Kim's Club at Banpo, close to Express Bus Term, is also good for things like that.

I bought Chili powder in Seoul, don't remember where, but it had to be at one of the above places.

Thanks Lynns, that will make for a crazy day running around Seoul shopping. By the foreign food market, you mean the basement place down the road, round the corner and across the pedestrian bridge from Itaewon?

I'll post where I find it. If anyone solves this riddle before I get to Seoul, let us know!

No, Foreign Food Market is a couple doors down from What the Book in Itaewon.

The only problem is they have stuff and then a week later they don't have it. No steady supply.

Let's clarify this: are you talking about red chili powder as in gochu-karu or are you talking about Texas style chili powder?

Well, that depends on where you live....if you live in Seoul, there are more options open as to where to look. I would say try Hannam market in Hannam dong. Also, try Chung Hwa market inside the Chung Hwa apartment complex- they also have foreign items.
You could try the black market in Itaewon and the cool thing with them is if they don't have something, you can tell them and they could get it for you the next time they go onbase.

I remember Red Door in Itaewon had chili powder 3 1/2 weeks ago as well as many other spices, but I had brought some with me on the flight over.

It's a black market shop down the street from Gecko's/Coffee Bean in Itaewon. Stay on the Coffee Bean sign, walk past the Family Mart, and a block or so down on your left is a currency exchange place. Right next to it is a little hole in the wall with a red door frame. Inside is an old lady who gets goods from the PX, marks them up 1000% and laughs all the way to the bank.

However, she does carry tons of stuff you simply can't find anywhere else.
