| How long did it take you from the time you began a job search to the time you were hired to find a job in South Korea? I graudate May 16 and am getting the necessary documents ready so that when I am hired I don't have much to do but still I wonder. Any experiences? |

Three days for the EPIK program and about three weeks for my first hagwon job. Getting the documents together took about two weeks
however the CRC took a couple of months to come through as it had to have an apostille. |

You could find a job now and have it lined up before you graduate. |

| I was in no hurry. I was relaxing in Thailand. I guess I made the decision to come here in mid-june. I was here at the end of August for a September 1 start date. It could have been sooner, but I was waiting for this position. It was recommended by a friend who was leaving. |

Wario graduated on May 10th last year. About two weeks later he saw the ad for CDI from Aclipse and started looking into it. When he told me about it, I told him about a kid up the road here who was already there for a couple years already--his mom had told me about it in the grocery store. Wario got a hold of him on Facebook and learned that Aclipse and CDI aren't the only shows in town. That's how we found Dave's. He showed me different threads here about what to look for in contracts, etc.
He applied to several different ads that looked interesting, talked to different recruiters, got his paperwork together, had several interviews, narrowed it down by hours/location/pay, talked to FT's, picked a hagwon, printed out the contract offer/health cert/visa application, sent his stuff to Korea, got the visa number, went to NYC for his consulate interview/visa, and was on the plane July 7th.
At that time, I did his CBC online which took me ten minutes and $10. He had it notorized along with a copy of his degree, and sent to the state for apostilles. That took about a week while he was also having transcripts sent from his Uni. Then last fall, Korea said no more online CBC's. |

| I'm trying to get one lined up so that I can leave ASAP. Some of the docs will take a few weeks like my diploma and transcripts. Getting those apostilled shouldn't because my sceretary of state's office is close to where I live. |

| Yes, Tobias. It actually took 10 weeks including delivery time. As I had everything sent and delivered by the normal postal service(cutting costs) and from another country. |

How is Wario doing? Didn't you say he had a Korean girlfriend? You should get him to post on here! |

Wario's doing ok. He quit his first job, found a new one and made a visa run to Japan. He's teaching Science now at a much more organized school. But he gave up six months severance time switching midstream. I tried to get him to post on here, he might have registered and is hiding from me.
His K-girl seems like a real sweety, she talks to me on the phone all the time. It's a big load off my mind that she's there to look after him--between the two of us nagging him he'll be ready to run off to Hong Kong. I keep telling him not to mess that up, he's got a good thing going as long as they're good friends and really LIKE each other, they've already run off to Thailand once together. |

1 month. Applied with 3 recruiters, offered jobs in less than one week, decided upon recruiter and job at the end of week 1 and sent info via email such as scans of documents, week 2 I send documents and passport to consulate and me and recruiter agree on when I fly, week 3 my passport is returned to me from the consulate and I fly away at the end of week 4.
The recruiter and job decision process was quick and easy as I just wanted a PS job under EPIK instead of trying to research all these hagwon schools only to work more with much less vacation and take on more risk for about the same amount of money. |

Damn. I'll get my CBC in person right at the office, so it shouldn't take 10 weeks. At least it had better not. I don't want to live in Tijuana or Juarez for 8 weeks (see the 330-day rule). But I can if I must. Dodging drug dealers' bullets and Uncle Sam's taxes. Only in TESOL, boy. Only in TESOL. |
