It's happened to the best of us. You meet a nice Korean girl you think she's into you then it sinks in your just a walking language lesson!
! AH HA! "I see the light" you say..
Key warning signs to watch out in the defensive Korean girl play:- Evil or Very Mad
1. You get a "date" then its changed last minute. Very Happy
2. She brings a friend at the last minute. Very Happy
3. No cues during the date. Very Happy
4. She refuses to come back to your place. Very Happy
5. DONT TOUCH ME! I'M FRIGHTENED! (You try to hold hands) Very Happy
6. Other annoying/random c*ck blocking activity. Shocked

Please feel free to add more.. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I find the best way to avoid this is to come off as a complete lothario/degenerate from the get go.

I can see the others being warning signs, but these two? Are you talking about a first date or a long term situation? I don't think the fact that she refuses to hold hands or go home with a virtual stranger is a warning sign that she's just in it for the language lesson. Are you looking for a date or a cheap lay?

Maybe that was a given because we're English teachers haha

If it's just for an English lesson, they can pay or you can keep canceling the meetings to be just as annoying.

If she won't kiss you by the 3rd date, then stop calling.

quit picking on the canadians in Korea! The candian women back home only require proof that the man has enough for a six pack and enough gas in his truck to keep it warm during the special moment.

So, naturally, they [those from the canadia] get confused when they first come here.

I've had it explained to me that in Korean culture, kissing is taken more seriously than in the West- it's on the same level, or close to it, as sex. So while it may take a month for a Korean girl to kiss you, when she does she's probably ready to go all the way.

That's been my experience as well, although my sample size is too small for a scientific survey.

The erratic behaviour of the exotic Korean female creature "studius-for-freeius" baffles the best of us .
I think the point I missed out is context for points 4,5,6. Give me some credit please!
Acting like a player fair enough, but when the conversation is continuously grounded towards her major/English grammar exclusively something is WRONG dude! You've been elected to the position of "Mayor of waygooks I can study with town!" lol Yep, I've met some real ball breakers!
All I'm saying is just don't get caught out. Do you pay for her and her friend's drinks? Food even? A friend she invites at the last minute? All key "studious-for-freeius" activity! It's just funny and the jokes on us!

SOLUTION: Speak Korean for extended periods of time, and see her reaction. If her response seems to be "OK that's nice, now let's go back to speaking English now," then you know you're just for learning Engrishee from.
