Hi everyone.

I was wondering. I'm going to have to leave Korea and come back on a tourist visa. What would be the cheapest way to do this from Seoul?

LOL .............get on KTX go back to pusan and jump on the Pusan -Japan ferry.

If i remember right I paid $80 usd RT last time.

Or maybe a cheap flight from one of the travel agencies in Seoul to japan or Taiwan would work.

I think you can get a Taiwan RT for about 200-300USD RT still

Hey, lostone7, good to hear from you again.

Only 80 bucks for the ferry? Which ferry was it? Was it a long trip? You're right Taiwan might be the way to go. And I'm thinking it would be cheaper than Japan when I get there.

I think the ferry was about 6hours or so It's been about 2yrs..... There is a faster one if you pay more.

It's at the international Dock same stop as Immigrations buy the ticket same day etc.,

Cost would depend really on how long you plan to stay in the different countries. Kungstan travel has a 3day RT ticket and hotel and stuff for 200-300 dollars to Japan.

And there are a ton of expat travel agencies in Itewaon in Seoul too

OR

Head to Thailand and kick around there while looking for a Job here .....Tickets are 350-700USD depending but cost of living is crazy low if you don't go crazy tourist

Thats what I did ater my first contract..........lived there lol 3mths till i found a perfect job and I spent about $400 a month for rent, food, cheep beer and .... was a decent time.

I guess a lot would depend on what exactly are your plans as well.

Were are you staying in Seoul? BTW

Either swim or take the slow boat to China? Grow your own wings and flap away? Build your own boat constructed of plastic water bottles? Sneak past the DMZ by swimming in the ocean around it wearing a bluish gray wetsuit and cap as to camo yourself in the ocean and then walk the beach to China covered in mud with soft black charcoal artists use rubbed into your hair to make it jet black as to camo up.

Please be advised my advice is not advisable as it is dangerous and requires a highly physically fit individual to pull it off, but it's the cheapest way to go if successful.

Another cheap idea is to jump in the water in Busan near the ferry terminal, swim, and grab onto a docked beetle or other boat and hang on for the free ride of your life. And then when it's nearing Japan, climb aboard as to properly pass through immigration for passport visa stamping. Be sure to bring a towel in a dry bag that also contains your passport and anything else that should be kept dry.

Probably the most practical, but not cheapest, way to get out of Korea is find out who the discount travel agents are, call them for quotes, and purchase the cheapest air ticket.

Robot can float like a boat since it can waterproof with silicone sealant and use a 5 volt propeller peripheral device while keeping charged with a 2X2 inch head mounted solar panel, but the problem is it would take 10 to 20 days each way to Japan using a plastic hand held fan as a propeller. Wink

I'm right near Korea University. I'm in a Goshiwon. Kungstan sounds interesting.

I'm thinking North Korea is totally the way to go. I can get there so quick. Go to the go go bars, have myself a ball, and swing on back to the South.
