I don't have a lot of good things to say about Korea, but baseball is something I can be positive about.
Unfotunately, they (at least temporarily) have killed the golden goose. The cable company as well as the baseball organization have failed to reach an agreement, suspending all televised baseball.
For the last week or so, there has been 1 game televised only, as opposed to the normal 3 or 4. Tonight is the last one, and until they reach an agreement, don't try to watch baseball on TV here.

Get over it..baseball canceled half a season in North America. Hockey took a year off.. a broadcast contract isn't as serious a problem as the whole sport being done. Hell 20% of hockey games in Canada are "premium" games which means you gotta pay $10/each to the cable company to see them.
I have an easier time of watching all my team's games in Korea than I did in Canada. Didn't screw the sport there. |

Why not just put "It happens in America" in your location? |

What fucked up world do you live in where something getting worse is okay purely based on the fact that it's worse somewhere else? So if people break into my apartment, rape my girlfriend and beat me to a pulp, should I shrug and say, "well, at least they didn't kill us?" Does the mere existence of something worse immediately invalidate any criticism someone may have of something? |

I never said it was okay. I said baseball wasn't screwed as you put it and then felt the need to toss in a sparkling to make it look like it was some kind of unique problem to Korea. My point was professional sports have, in recent times, had far worse situations to go through and been just fine. If baseball in NA can weather a half a year off and hockey can weather an entire year off a temporary interrupt in a broadcast contract isn't going to "screw" the sport. People will read the sports page, check the internet, listen to the game on the radio or go out and see one. At least they still have baseball to go see and keep up on. |

| The games are awesome here. Cheap beer, sit where you want for 6000 won, CHEERLEADERS, and a beer chugging contest during the 6th inning stretch. Not one thing to complain about. |

Ilsanman made yet another moronic observation and concluded Korean baseball was screwed.
crossmr made a valid point that it was worse for American baseball so Korean baseball was not necessarily screwed.
So what's wrong with what crossmr said? It was perfectly reasonable. You and jkelly need to get off the rag and kick back once in a while. Then maybe you guys wouldn't be so miserable all the time. |

Baseball games here have a great atmosphere...it is so noisy but its fun to cheer for your team GO GO DOOSAN!!
Its a cheap day out and fun (but a little weird not having hot dogs to eat...but there is Burger King and KFC at Jamsil Stadium)
and get a set of those noise makers...

Why is my observation moronic? Am I wrong in some way? If so, please correct me.
It sucks because the sport is really picking up here, and now people can't watch it.
It's cheap but many people (including myself) work very busy schedules and can't go to games. I usually watch on my DMV or see highlight reels, but now that is even gone because games aren't being taped anymore.
I have little good to say about American baseball, so the comparison is a moot point.

The comparison isn't moot, and it wasn't just compared to American baseball. the comparison was to 2 other professional sports that suffered far greater set backs in recent years and have not been "screwed" by it. A temporary broadcast issue isn't going to screw a professional sport if a year off can't screw it. I'm going to go out on a limb and bet the info will still be online. Get one of your coteachers to check the teams home pages they might even have live score updates.
I was unaware that professional sport's ability to bounce back from a set back was inversely proportional to how much you liked it. |

Somehow seeing a score in the newspaper doesn't do it for a real fan.
Just like watching the Simpsons. I can tell you the jokes but it isn't half as good as watching the real thing.
My team is on a 4 game winning streak and has hit several homeruns, but I have to read about it. Yes, it screws the sport. |

No it screws you, not the sport.
You seem to be failing on a level of basic comprehension. The sport not existing for 6 months or a year didn't screw it. The fact that its still running, just lacking a viewing method doesn't screw it. It can't be in better condition than something that wasn't screwed and now be screwed. |
