				| Hello everyone - can anyone tell me what the area around Dandeaogeori station (line 8 - the pink line) is like? I'm applying for a middle school job around there and I don't know much about the place. Thank you in advance for any realtive information! | |

				| poor area. a typical "old" style downtown in Korea. MUCH different from Bundang. The kids will probably be nice though, as you will be more of a celebrity. They probably haven't seen many native speaks so will be more attentive. | |

				| Cheers, my co-teacher said something along those lines about the kids being nicer over in Dandeaogeori than they are here in Bundang. I like the kids I teach here but I can imagine they are spoilt, snotty nosed little gets compared to a lot of other kids in poorer communities! | |

				| There's a HUGE redlight district area nearby. It's got to be one of the biggest in Korea.
Otherwise, the place is a complete dump of a place with most of the people that live there being uncouth rustic farmer types that spit on the ground, get drunk nightly, and go whoring at night.

Sounds like the place I am from except for the 'rustic farmer types'

I am going to check it all out tonight - see what's what.

				| I've been there several times (my girlfriend lives there) and it's not as bad as the above posters are making it out to be. She lives in a decent apartment, and I didn't have to jump over spit and vomit to come see her. That being said, I haven't been there late at night. Some parts are run down, but others aren't. Perks: a great outdoor food market, tons of restaurants, loads of sex shops (though I heard they reject foreigners, at least they rejected a bunch of my co-workers; maybe you'd have luck if you went by yourself). My girlfriend claims the air is cleaner than Seoul's but I doubt it.
Bottom line: if the job is good, take it. Don't let the area scare you.

				| Cheers Bobby, as long as there is a gym around there and transportation to other places then it will be fine with me! Bundang is a subway trip away as is Gangnam so it sounds allright. The flat and the school are near the subway station so up till now it sounds pretty good. | |
