I'm gonna take advantage of Cebu Pacifics cheap airfare and head to Cebu with my girlfriend. Can you recommend a nice hotel near a beach, hopefully under $100/night? |

There are NO nice beaches around Cebu city.
The beach resorts are all over on Mactan and they will cost an arm and a leg.
I assume you are arriving late at night. Pre-book a room at the ACE Penzionne (about p1400) or the hotel Cecesario (p1800). They are clean, close to the airport and have free pickup with no rip-offs.
The next morning catch a ferry (2 hours) over to Bohol and enjoy your beach time at Alona beach (or one of the other beaches on Panglao/Bohol island.
Alona tropical has decent beach front rooms starting at p1400 (about $30) and it is a natural, white sand beach (not pebbles and imported gravel like over on Mactan).

$50...$100. This is the Philippines, right? I pay about that in Hong Kong for a harbor-view room. |

$15 gets you a seaview room in most places. $7-15 if you are out in the province. 5 times that in Cebu city.
If you want a beach front resort in a place like Cebu city you ARE going to pay top dollar for it (and it is NOT worth it). Thank the Japanese and Korean tourists for it.
You can get a local business hotel (like the castle peak) for p1400 per night (~$2 . You can get basic hotels for $10-15 (and many include breakfast).
Leave the city and prices drop down to local rates for quite nice accomodation and scenery.
P1400 per couple gets you a beach front hut (right on the sand) with running water and breakfast for 2 at Alona tropical (1900 if you want aircon)

Wow yeah, I took a look at Cebu Pacific's website and return flights are going for around 115,000Won! Couldn't find any available flights for April or May but there's plenty in June onwards.
I was there about a year ago but caught a flight out of Seoul for around 350,000Won... I can't remember. Cebu Pacific has never had Seoul as a departure option on their webpage.. anyone know what the deal is?
Have Busan-Cebu flights always been this cheap? If I had known, I should've taken the KTX down.
Edit: Whoops, of course I didn't mean Seoul but Incheon.. and of course it's now listed on their website. What's shocking is that Incheon-Cebu prices are as cheap as Busan. Depending on what day you depart, the cheapest fare is 40,000 and 50,000 to return |
