It's not that much of a big deal, but just wondering if others get a bit annoyed by some of these things. Let me explain.
Some months ago, I started looking for another job. I realized I had enough of Korea so I was looking for another ESL job anywhere else. So, I put my resume out there with the title almost always saying "Anywhere but South Korea". As a result, I get tons and TONS of email constantly from recruiters telling me about their latest find IN South Korea. Then I get tons and tons of phone calls, all from recruiters wondering if I can start tomorrow IN South Korea. Yeah, I realized I shouldn't include a phone number too late, and for the future will never do so again.
The other thing is there's this interesting scam going around that seems to be targeting me lately. I don't know how many have come across this, but it's some "family" in Great Britain, or whatever other country they fill in the blank that wants me to come and personally teach English to their kid and then pay me a LOT of money to do so. The benefits are somewhat outrageous, paying more money than you should ever get and includes a lot of stuff like a Mercedes and all that other stuff you're really never ever going to get in real life. Fortunately, the very first one of these that was sent to me was a scam that has been going around the Internet for awhile, so when I put the guy's name into a search engine, I found hundreds of people talking about being scammed by a similar named, similar schemed job offer which ended up depleting their bank accounts. Now, I get a different variation of this same scam almost weekly, although it's a new name of the person and new location where they want me to go.
I find it really sad that scammers are targeting the ESL crowd. It's not like we're rich or anything. It seems really frustrating when someone is actually trying to find a legitimate job, and this is the sort of thing that keeps popping up. |

Right now I am searching for a job too. I plan on teaching at a public school so hopefully everything works out for me. You should check out the Hess school in Taiwan. It pays pretty well and I am still considering it for myself as well. |

If I were you, I would read the many, many threads out there on Dave's and Forumosa about working for them. I wouldn't consider working for them at all.
I too am looking around at my options. I have had my resume up a couple of times here and numerous other websites. Without question the recruiters from K-Land will blindly email you. It happens to me too.
As for the scam, it happens frequently! Of course, if it sounds too good to be true it is. I get these emails from time to time. |
