In the statemnt "What a surprise", is "Surprise" a noun or an adjective? |

It is a noun (or so I believe - I never had much grammar taught to me in school so most of what I know is pieced together from teaching English for a year). But the sentence is an expression rather than a proper sentence as there is no verb. |
