I want to go to a public school, and EPIK seems like the easiest way to do that, especially since I'm not currently in Korea.

Lots of people suggest using multiple recruiters, but if you're applying to a program like EPIK, which (I believe) doesn't offer specific placement information (outside of choosing a region), does it matter?

Sorry, maybe I'm being a bit daft and missing something, but advice would be appreciated.

I can tell you that applying to GEPIK under multiple recruiters means you will not get a job. I would guess that EPIK could be the same.

The reason given is that, should they give the job to you, they have multiple recruiters who expect to be paid in full. Not worth the hassle Razz

This is my understanding...

You are correct that you can't directly request a location.

There are POEs (provincial offices of education) and MOEs (metropolitan offices of education).

If you go to korvia.com and click on "opportunities" and then "EPIK", they list these POEs and MOEs that you can request on your application.

If you request to be placed in Incheon for example and your request is honored then you will be placed somewhere in that city by the Incheon MOE, though you might not get the most metropolitan of locations. That's about as specific as you can get. If you select a provincial area, that would place you anywhere in the provice.

Recruiters can maybe put a word in for you, but don't beleive any that make promises.

One exception is Gyeongnam province, http://uni.nayana.com/~getscenter/

you can look at the schools in the province and apply directly to them. There are smallish - medium sized cities in this province. One is Masan, and Gimhae, maybe. This is the website for a recruiter that does the placement.

Just sending an application into EPIK and saying that you are willing to work anywhere could very well land you anywhere. But, EPIK positions are supposedly first come first serve, so if you pass your interview and get all of your documents in early, you have a better chance at getting the location you want. There are no guarantees though.

Also, larger cities are popular choices and fill up first.

------------------------------------------------

For you original question, there is no advantage to using multiple recruiters. The recruiter will submit your EPIK application to the EPIK office. Once EPIK receives an application with your name on it, they will ignore the rest of the applications they receive from you.

I don't know what stage your in with your application, but an awesome first step is would be to find a recruiter that is easy to work with and accessible. Rowan at ESL Planet gets a lot of respect on this board.

PM me if you have any quesitons.
