edit - change of plan.
Will be arriving in Mokpo at around 1am.
1. Will it be a problem finding accommodation so late in the night without pre-booking?
2. Can you recommend anywhere fairly cheap to stay? (2 person double/twin)
3. What about any Love hotel recommendations? Again, is it ok turning up after midnight?
4. Thinking of going to Suncheon Bay, Dolsando, Boseong, and time permitting, Mokpo to try to get to one of the islands. Is this a good itinerary?

Hopefully someone will know more about the specific location, I just wanted to mention that I have been to love motels that have asked me to give the key to the desk when I leave and not come back after 10 or 11 because they'll be sleeping. FWIW. |

There's a decent love motel in downtown Gwangju. I can't give you an exact location, but it's right around the corner from a nightclub called Vanilla. We paid 35,000 and got a really nice room... and we had no problem getting a place at around 10:00 pm on white day! |

If you are taking the KTX from Seoul, it will arrive at Gwangju Station. There are plenty of hotels in the area, just walk down the street to your right when you leave the station. |

I completely changed my mind, it was easier to go to Mokpo first. We arrive at 00:44. Do the love hotels have someone manning the reception all night? |

I'm not from Mokpo but have passed through a couple times. There are motels by both the train station and the bus station (you're taking the train?), so you'll likely have no problems finding one unless you run into a ton of business b/c of the holiday. If a motel (모텔 in Korean) has its lights on, it's open, and they'll oftne have a person at the desk all night for . . . . um, for you know what.
As for your itinerary, how many days? If you left early you could go to the tea fields in Boseong in the morning 10 - 12ish, then take the bus to Suncheon and grab the bus to Suncheon Bay that'd get you there about 2. That's if you get lucky with catching the bus. GIve yourself a day for Yeosu/Dolsan-do. Go to Hyangiram hermitage on the tip, then next to Dolsan Bridge is a harbor where you can grab a tour boat around some of the outlying islands (it's pretty good). Then go up to Dolsan Park (on top of the hill) or walk to the downtown area (about 30 minutes away, in the interior of that bay). |

thanks for the tips.
I plan on getting up early on the Friday and going to one of the islands not sure if I will stay overnight. So that then gives me a couple of days to go on to Suncheon Bay and Boesung tea plantation.
Any tips on the island? LP says Hongdo and Heuksando are pretty good. |

There are a LOT of motels in Mokpo and you'll have no problem finding one with an empty room at any time of night. |
