I've seen on here that some people recommend having supplemental insurance for things like medical dismemberment catastrophes and evacuation and things. fun. That is, supplemental to the NHIC.

For anyone that has this, can you explain to me how it works? Do you need to have health insurance already in order to get this supplemental travel insurance?

For anyone that has it, is there anything you can recommend to me or can describe it a bit for me? Do you get coverage for a year and then renew it if need be?

It is a good idea isn't it?
