Can anyone share their experiences on how to make a good income with a decent schedule? I can see the potential for making a lot of money if you don't mind working 12+ hours a day (including commute) but as a new husband I will want to spend a fair amount of time with my wife.

Is it a good idea to work at more than one hagwon? Are one-to-one classes arranged through agencies (like YBM B2B) a good bet, or is it better to use Korean websites to advertise?

Right now my plan is to work part-time at my hagwon and maybe go for an after-school job at a high school with a few privates on the weekends. Anyone have a similar experience?

I'm curious what other F2s are doing to balance income and free time.

There's really no secret to it. Go to the boards that advertise PT jobs, find/get hired by places that fit into a schedule that works for you, and Bob's your uncle.

There's nothing wrong about working at more than one place, provided it's not against your contract at a current job, and you're paying taxes, etc..

Someone else said, this recently, and I agree: unless they're getting paid 100,000 an hour, I don't see why people bother with the 1 hour at a time company jobs, spending another hour or more travelling to and from. If it's block work, then I could see it being worth it.

The rule of thumb is to maximize working time, minimize travel time. A good idea would be to find work within the same general area, focusing on areas in the city where there is a lot of work. Corporate gigs are good, generally its either in the morning or in the evenings though. Worknplay is a good sight Ive had some success with although you will generally deal with recruiters. That's not a good thing or a bad thing. They will take a sizable cut but they will have jobs available. Id say as a beginner 40,000/hr is a good starting wage. Don't accept less, ask for more.

Don't knock one hour gigs. yes, if you are traveling an hour one way, then teaching and then traveling another hour, then that makes no sense. But if you can get your jobs within a short distance so you minimize traveling time, then why not?

If I were you I would look to fill the following slots:

1. Morning prime time from around 6 to around 8am, look for corporations, not schools and try to avoid a recruiter if at all possible.
2. The morning, early afternoon time between 9 and 1pm. This could be a kindergarten for example. Though not necessarily.
3. After-school, from about 1 to 5pm.
4. Evening corporate work, from 6 to 10.
