Recently at my school four of us have re-signed/extended. Two did it for a whole year and the others did it for 6 months.
The two that re-signed for a year, both got plane tickets home and a week off (I believe the school was good enough to give them a Friday to Sunday night flight to give them two weekends at home).
Myself and the other teacher who re-signed for 6 months were given 1 plane flight (not a return ticket) each and the option of going home for a week. The other teacher took that option and the school bought her a round trip ticket (but she will have to pay for her flight home). I declined the trip home and was given their equivalent of a one way ticket home (approximately 800,000 won) on my next paycheque.
As far as I know, the airfare home and the time off is pretty standard. Details may vary from one school to the next. By re-signing you save the school a significant amount of money (recruiter fees) as well as the effort of training a new teacher. Our school was happy to keep us and I would assume most non-exploiting schools would do the same... (and since you want to re-sign, I'm assuming you enjoy working there). |
