I'm trying to verify this any way I can since I'm trapped at school all day with nary a class (yes, I finished my lesson plans and journals too...sheesh!) and a pay stub that says someone's absconded with a healthy portion of my hard-earned cash under the auspices of collecting "employment insurance". Sounds suspiciously like a service offered by the Corleone family.
The wife called them to inquire about this practice and they replied that not only is this deduction optional, the school would be obliged to return the funds if the teachers decided to opt out. Additionally, they indicated that after performing a search using my ID number, that no funds had been paid on my behalf...although there was another search they could perform using my school's ID.
The agency's website features some rather dated information, so I reckon what the person told my wife on the phone is the most up to date info. Can any confirm this? |

If you're on an E- visa it shouldn't apply. |

Our staff is a mixture of E-2's and F-2's...they have made the deduction from everyone's salary. One of the other teachers has checked the employment insurance website and the information provided in English is out of date. Does anyone else have a link that provides more current information. |
