I saw a "count down" counter on the Passport website.....they say there are going to be some changes to the Travel requirements.

Will this affect you in any way, esp since you're already overseas? Is there a significant change in a way that it will affect you?

Hmmm, hard to say. Do you think you could be a little more vague? I almost got an idea about what the hell it is you're talking about. Thanks.

OP,
To answer your two questions:
1. possibly; and,
2. maybe.

Sorry, OP, but what a silly post!

First of all, "the Passport website" - I know you're talking about the Passports page on the US Department of State website, but your post was pathetically vague. There are (at least) six other countries whose citizens can teach English in Korea. These changes apply only to US citizens.

Second, did you even bother reading the page to find out what the changes are? They pertain to the new passport requirements for land and sea travel between the US and countries within the Western Hemisphere (Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean). Any American in Korea already has a US passport; ergo, these changes won't affect them at all.

A little bit of reading would have answered your question, and you wouldn't have had to start this inane thread that's getting you nothing but (completely justifiable) derision from Dave's users.

Well the US is the centre, I mean, c-e-n-t-e-r, of the universe so the rest of us should auto assume that ALL posts on Dave's stem from an American perspective. Ergo, this post is about changes to the US passport system. Otherwise, the OP would have indicated that he was talking about one of the other 5 insignificant countries.

Basically, if you don't have an additional form of ID besides your passport, you need to fly in,rather than coming in by car, train or boat:
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

This won't affect most Americans here, but if you were planning to fly into Toronto or Winnipeg or something, then bus/drive home to the U.S. later, make sure you have another form of ID besides your passport.

You read that page and that's your interpretation? And you teach English in Korea? Heaven help your students.

It says NOTHING of the sort.

It says that currently, a passport/passport card is not required to enter the US by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean countries. Document(s) proving identity and citizenship are required. A passport fulfills both; ergo, if you have one, you don't need another form of ID. If you DON'T have a passport, you need two documents: one to prove identity, the other to prove citizenship. A driver's license would suffice for the former, while a birth certificate would accomplish the latter.

From June 1, 2009, everyone entering the U.S., whether by land, air, or sea, will be required to present a valid passport. For land or sea crossings, either the traditional passport book or the new passport card will be acceptable.

Now, could we please let this thread die before anyone else demonstrates an utter lack of reading comprehension?
