A good reason not to rob places that have pots of boiling oil just sitting around.

If I remember correctly, that person was probably just changing the oil at the time the guy ran in.

They need to use a canister to drain the oil.

I see no other way of doing so without burning your own fingers.

It reminds me of the time I was worried that I would have to use my boiling water for pasta on a jealous husband at my door if he would've kicked down the door and came up in my apartment, since I didn't have a gat.
