Well in another thread I mentioned that I returning back to the UK and I have decided to create a blog for those that are interested. I am really trying to provide information or advice about what to consider, expect or experience when they return back to their home country.

Please feel free to visit my blog:

http://thereturningresident.blogspot.com/

Apologies if this is a spam but I thought that this blog would be more suitable for those that work in Korea but are considering to return back home after some years in this Hermit Kingdom.

Used to respray and repaint aircrafts or other military equipment/vehicles. Atleast I can now say I had an actual job watching paint dry. Laughing

lol. You were an officer right?
Wasn't they pay higher than ESL?
Anyways, I am interested in reading your blog.
Many people are uneasy at the thought of going back home..... I know I was. A lot of my friends go home, go back to Korea, go home. I usually tell them it's a temporary band-aid solution to not being able to find a good job.
To be truthful, it is insanely difficult to get a good job.
A lot of us grew up during the 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' generation, where we were always told the world is cold without an education and a good job. Most teachers in Korea have the education, and for most it is really not their fault they can't get a secure job back home.
My friends has a Masters in Law and a Commercial Pilots License, smart as a whip, but he works at a coffee shop and lives with his parents.
Unfortunally, I am not joking one bit.

Please keep checking for updates and those that wish to learn more about my experience in the UK (I shall be returning next week), please don't hesitate to ask questions on my blog.

Interesting blog Smile . Oxford is a good place for English teaching jobs over the summer months. They usually start hiring around May, sometimes as early as April.

Good luck with the job hunting and settling back down into the UK. Just imagine, in a few months you'll be enjoying the English summer, perhaps sitting next to a canal somewhere drinking pear cider and eating Walkers crisps.

I shall try to remain an active member but just to let those interested what opportunities exist back home and perhaps to help out those newbies from time to time.

I'll be reading it. I'm also going home very very soon, so it's interesting to see.

You probably wouldn't get that in America out of a job either, except the weather gets mighty hot in cowboy country. High pay would compensate for the lack of benefits migook jobs usually offer, but high pay ($50,000+) is not common these days. I suspect the UK market is similar.
