Anyone sold their holidays before?
I'm supposed to get 10 days. Which I'm sure I will if I ask for them. But my hagwon is very small and new.
I'm here to make cash then leave when contract complete and thinking a little extra cash in pocket may be nicer than holidays. Although I'm not sure they're in the position to be handing out money.
w1 million for 5 days?....w1.5?...more?

Just take the holidays and be happy if they don't try and cheat you out of the days that you're SUPPOSED to get....... |

I've never heard of anyone making a profit by "selling" their vacation time. With most people, me included, if they don't take their vacation during their contract period, they just get them cashed out on a pro-rated basis. I really doubt they will give you 1 million for 5 days vacation. |

You might get pro rated pay if you can make a good argument. You'd be better off scheduling a vacation now though. You're gonna need a good story. I recommend telling them that your sister is getting married soon. |

Wait.. what? I'm confused... you want your school to pay you for not taking your vacation time? And you want them to pay you upwards of 1 million won for five days?
Is my understanding correct? |

I'm just trying to think ahead. Not sure how my school will handle me going on vacation so I'm thinking of options. If they say they'll close the school for a week, great. If they say I can have a number of extended weekends, great. If they ask what I'd prefer i may suggest x amount of won.
Nobody get too excited....I foresee 5 days off in august and 5 off in jan/feb.....no cash....but it's fun to plan. |

OP, you must be high or have no concept of math whatsoever.
1 million for 5 days? Unless you are making 4 million a month, you are WAY off on this one.
I got bought out for 6 days last year. Gotta a bit less than my daily average. Maybe 400,000 in total. My school, obviously, was trying to dissuade people from not taking holidays. |

My numbers do seem a little confusing. All very roughly calculated but the w1m included my salary so I should have said an additional w600,000 (w120,000/day) beyond what they would be paying me anyway. Likely rather the days off than go any lower than that. |
