I just heard that my current employer is going to be terminating my contract on Monday. I am not sure why either. I want to find a different job. What do i have to give immigration? Do i have to get a new criminal record check and medical exam yto get a new E2 visa?

I have no idea what to do.

The boss is probably having some money problems. He'll owe you one months' salary, I believe. He didn't give the proper notice.

I 'm pretty sure you'll only have to go to Japan for the next visa.

There is no problems with money. The school has plenty of it. Hopefully you are right about only having to go to Japan. I just want to make sure I don't have to get another criminal record check. The one at immigration should be fine I hope.

Chachee, I gave you the wrong info in my reply. I apologize. Unfortunately, you aren't due the month's salary jack. You've been at the job less than three months. Life's a bitch.

Ok here is the story. My employer will have me work until the end of this month, (yippie three days of pay). They stated that they will not cancel my visa and will provide me with a letter of release whenever i find a new employer. However, I have a question about the criminal record check. I submitted mine in February this year, but the date on the record check was from the beginning of November 2008. I heard some story that if a criminal record check is over 6 months old it is consider invalid when traferring your visa. Immigration has my original copy of my criminal record check and i do not have a copy for myself. My question is will i still have to submit a new criminal record if my old one is over six months old?

I tired calling immigration but i am unable to get through. Any advice?

Well chachee (LOL, now I'm singing the theme to Charles in Charge as I type),

If you submitted your CRC in February, then you haven't worked 9 months. You need to wait this long before having a new school (like pregnancy). After that, immigration will allow it and you don't need to go to Japan.

So, it looks like you don't really need your LOR now unless you want to leave the country and come back before the contract period ends.

Another option would be to get an Exit Order. Immigration may request for the school to go with you and confirm this. Then, you are free to start from zero. You will need all your documents you had to get before your first school. The only thing is I am sure you won't need to go to your home country for any interview.

I suggest you get that CRC immediately. Then get your transcripts, and while you wait get your medical check and anything else needed.

If you have the cash, you may want to wait it out. It's only 4 months until September, and you might be able to get a public school job then. You'll have plenty of time to get your stuff in order. Good luck.

I read my crystal ball, of course....Sorry, guy. I made the leap that you began your job just this past March 1.

I submitted my CRC in February, but the actual date it was finished was in November. What makes things even stranger is immigration said I can get a new job without leaving the country, however i am limited on certain positions. They said I cannot get a visa to work at a hogwan. I was kind of shocked at that because I thought an E2 was an E2 and the employer shouldn't make a difference.

I have transferred my visa a few times but that was from the end of one contract to another. Everything went smoothly. No problems whatsoever.

As for my documents, I already have everything on me except for the CRC because I already submitted it to immigration today. I have already did some calling back home and had someone resubmit a new CRC to the RCMP on my behalf, however that could take upto 3 months to complete. The medical check will only take a couple days to get. And yes I am drug free and healthy.

I was notified about this from my recruiter on Friday evening and was given the offical word early this morning . I guess the school was nice enough to let me work the remaining 4 days this month before I officially .

This has never happened to me and I am confused by the whole process. I am unclear about this EXIT ORDER. I know it is a document that says my visa has been cancelled and I have x amount of days to leave the country. After which I can re-enter with a tourist visa. However I am not sure if I am restricted for any period of time to be given a new visa with another employer.

I do have money to wait it out but I am not sure if I can last 4 months because I have to pay rent on my apartment. Plus, I already signed a one year lease back in March and I don't want to lose my key money.

Man these are not very "Happy Days" right now.

It'll all work out. You're in a very good place for finding a new job without moving to a new pad.

True I do live in central Seoul however the most public school jobs are outside Seoul. I wonder if I should just do the walk in applications at various public schools? That is starting to sound like the best option right now.

I'm in a very similar position. Leaving my current job, won't start my next job until August, and am worried about getting my next E2 visa (and having enough money to survive until then). Look for my recent threads on this topic, and search for ttompatz's posts, which are very informative and accurate on all things visa.
