| Does anyone know how much the fees are for importing a laptop? Is it a percentage of the value, or what? |

| Depends whether you have it shipped direct or whether you have it repackaged by someone in the US and mailed to Korea. If you ship it direct, you are likely going to pay some nice heavy fees. Know that there are ways around it though. |

I shipped my personal laptop to the states for repairs, and my father shipped it back via fedex. The customs office at the airport held it and would have made me pay around 30% of the value if I didn't mail them my outgoing mail receipt(from when I mailed it to my father) proving that it was my laptop.
400 dollars is the cut off line, 400 and above and customs wants a chunk, so maybe list the laptop as worth 350? sounds risky though. |

| my dad bought a computer in the states that he then sent to me. It got held up at customs until someone called me and asked if it was my personal computer and not one that was new that I had bought. I said NEEEEEEEEE, and they didn't charge me any additional fees. I think it just depends on what customs official you get. |
