I have small two seater sofa in my apartment that was bought for me by the school a few weeks after I arrived. The teacher before me never had one and never asked for one despite it being listed in the contract.
About a month or so after receiving it I agreed to look after a friends cat for a few weeks. Needless to say it scratched the sofa quite badly. I asked the general office how much it would be to replace it and was quoted 300,000.
Now I have found one that is nearly identical and costs only 88,000 on Gmarket which I intend to buy. But it means I have to find a way to get rid of my current sofa. Does anybody know how to do this? When I asked my co-teacher she told me "You need to buy some sticker from someone and then leave it somewhere". She was unable to be any more vague and doesn't seem to want to help in any way. Her final advice was to ask the security guards despite knowing I don't speak Korean and that they speak no English. So I have decided to ask here instead. Any ideas about this mystery sticker? Where from and how much? Also what should I do with the sofa afterwards?
The alternative is to leave the scratched sofa, but I am guessing they might take 300,000 from my security deposit.
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS I also have a laptop and DVD player, neither of which work, that I would like to get rid of. Same sticker situation? I suppose I could dump them in the dead of night, not so easy with a sofa. |

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered this. |

I'm certainly no expert, but this is the little I know. It sounds like you are living in an apartment complex because you mentioned security guards (aka garbage nazis). In my complex, when someone wants to get rid of anything large(ish) you have to pay extra for its removal. Your maintainence fee covers regular trash removal, but furniture is extra. the sticker just shows that you ahve paid the money and the sofa will sit in a designated area until someone comes to take all the furniture away.
If you jsut take the sofa to the trash area and get the security guy to have a look, I am sure he will know what's going on and take some of your money to get rid of it. Good luck. |

| It shouldn't cost too much. It cost me about 30,000 to get two huge wardrobes and a big chest of drawers removed. A Korean friend helped me by making the phone call for me. A smallish couch shouldn't be too expensive. |

| OK thanks for the replies. I've decided to go and see the officetel manager and gesture at him for a while to see if he can help. |
