Someone posted these photos of some of the latest developments on the Han river in Seoul and they're pretty unattractive. What's the general feeling about changes occuring on the riverbanks? I hate the fact that they are replacing the mom and pop shops with 7-11s, and the removal of the trees ad grass is disgusting. I noticed they are putting in more carparks in some places.

On the other hand, they've done some very good work with greening up the lower reaches of the Han river (out towards Kimpo) in the last few years, and the cleaning-up of Yangjaecheon (please note, I'm not referring to Cheonggyecheong, the world's longest fountain) and some of the other tributaries has been pretty good.

That'll be finished in october. And if they're being replaced with 7-11s.. where are they? Are you sure they're not being replaced with those S-Shop buildings?

Rivers should not be green. They should be blue. They should also not be brown or grey, which more accurately represents the Han.

Actually, many rivers are naturally brown, red and green.
