|
|
Hi,
I've had an introduction to a possible job in a Chongqing university (I'm not 100 percent sure which one yet; my friend is getting back to me with some info.)
Does anyone live there? How is the social life? How do you find your interactions with the locals and Chinese staff/work colleagues go? I'm interested to know if the working relationship is as strained as it tends to be in Korea. Is there that huge social/authoritative wall between you and your manager, or does the whole work social thing tend to be a bit more easy going?
I'm really interested in any opinions. Also, some general opinions about life in the city would be great.
Thanks |

I have lived in that province before and have friends from that city. I like this province for being very nice in terms of people and the women are very beautiful. As the other guy said the pollution is freakin gross. Low pay and pollution keeps me a way from being a university teacher in China.
I still find China to be a fun place and Korea to be the most boring place ever. |

I must say, I'm rather put off by the above. Having seen the photos, it looks a little grim there. The job is good though, ten hours a week, no extra classes, no extraneous shit to do and good vacations. |

There is 1000 places in China with these working conditions, but less pollution. Unless they are paying you more than 6000 jobs like that are easy to find. |

Any advice specifically regarding places in China. Would you be able to direct me towards any with those sort of job conditions? A PM would be much appreciated. |

By all means, please post it here for all to read. I am in a similar position. I am curious about China. I have applied to a few positions, but they aren't quite what I was looking for. I am going somewhere. I just don't know where yet! Well, I know I am going to Thailand for a vacation, but I would like to hear all opinions on China over here on this board. I was also a bit put off by what I have seen in this thread, but I remain optimistic. I know there are opportunities in China, but locating them is another matter altogether! |

Kunming, Chengdu & Nanjing, often get good reports, as places to live & teach English in China. |

I've also heard good things about those cities as well as qingdao and dalian. Anyone else know any decent cities there?
Chengdu is a bit worrying, wasn't that where the megaquake hit? |

Dalian, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Kumming, Tsindao , places near Shanghai.
China is very fun even with the pollution. I had more fun in a little polluted town than I did in Shenzhen and Shanghai. If I go back I am going to a coastal city so that they pollution is a bit less.
You can also get better pay in private language schools but you will do more classes. |
