I am wondering if anyone knows of shopping for a size 12/14/16 in Seoul (besides Itaewon!). Itaewon has a really horrible selection, unless someone knows of a store I am missing.
Are the markets known for variety? Like Dongdaemun and Namdaemun?

Are you looking for UK sizes or US sizes?
You could try Marks and Spencer in Yongsan (in the shopping mall next to the station) or there's one in Apgujeong (exit 2 I think but i'm not sure. It's on the opposite side to Hyungdai Dept Store). Also forever 21 in Myongdong is good - I think it's exit 6 walk for 5 mins and it's on your right. |

I am looking for US sizes. I tried Forever 21 and I am still a little too big for there. But Marks and Spencer could work. Thanks. |

My roommate told me that there was one shop in Itaewon that sold bigger sizes and that wasn't too bad stylisically. I will ask her for the location. I've shopped in Marks and Spencers and it's sometimes hit or miss. I've been there and bought loads and then other times there is nothing I like so have come away with nothing. |

There are two stores in Itaewon that are ok for bigger sizes. As you come out of the subway station opposite Hamilton, go towards Sujis. About halfway down (near Subway), there is a store called BIG BOSS on the second floor. BIG BOSS is a bit Koreanized as far as style, but you can still find basics. Warning: the ajumma is a grouch!
Directly across the street on the second floor (I forgot what it is called) is another "plus-size" store with better selection and an excellent English-speaking single lady. She used to work at BIG BOSS, but then had an argument with management (about the Koreanization of style, I believe) and opened her own store across the street! She also knows the best people for alterations, and will get them done for you, usually within an hour.
DISCLAIMER: My information is a year old, but I am relatively certain that "single lady" is still in business; there were ALWAYS a few people in her shop and her English is great. |
