Before I say anything else, thank you to all the replies to my last post. Something I could not ask my current foreign teachers.
I have one or two students that are clearly above their skill level in the classes that they are in, or they top the popularity chart. Either way, the threat of detention (popular in my academy), means nothing to them. I am loathe to give them detention because that would secure them in either being a rebel, or mean nothing to them.
I need a way to motivate them to lead the entire class. I have tried making sure that no one talks to them and making sure that no one takes cues from them. Extreme I know, but I would rather have the intelligent student try to lead or disuade from leading than taking control of the entire class arbitrarily.
Pardon my ignorance, but I have only taught gifted students that thought the extra class time was fun.
*Edit...it is late, and my spelling and grammar, may be off** |
