I'm going backpacking in SE Asia for the first time in September and I'm trying to buy all of my gear ahead of time. My friends and I plan on staying in hostels most of the time and we're not sure if, as a general rule, they have bedding or we should carry some of our own. If we need to bring stuff should we bring full sleeping bags, just sheets, something else?

Thanks!

I've always had good luck with a sheet bag.....just buy a queen sized sheet, fold it over, sew it up.........voila! Now I carry a 40+ F degree bag and it works nicely. If you're going to be hosteling in S. East Asia there is a very good chance you'll be happy to have your own bedding at some point.
