Hi. Is Korea Immi still taking a notarized LOCAL criminal check with a U.S. embassy affidavit in lieu of the criminal check with apostille? Was ok last time I did it. Its May 09 now, has anyone done this recently? Thanks!

My girlfriend and I just got our 2nd E2's this way. Before we left Korea for a vacation we took our Criminal Background Checks to the US Embassy and got an affidavit on each. Took them with us on our travels and return trip home, then sent them off to Korean Immigration along with the usual stuff (transcripts, contract, etc.) while visiting home.

Worked out just fine. We picked up our passports from the consulate in San Francisco this afternoon with fresh new E2's in them.
