So, we are thinking about going to the Philippines over summer break - that first week of August when everyone and their mother is off. Despite the cheapest flight we could find being $650. $650 for freaking Philippines! ugh!
What I am looking for is information for places to go (Boracay, obviously) but maybe other places off the beaten path. And if anyone knows if certain places are less susceptible to the rainy season, that would be great.
I've never been, and am really just looking for advice, tips, ideas.
As far what we're looking for: nice beaches, scuba/snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, drinking. the usual stuff, i guess.
Any advice is really appreciated. |

We're not your servants. Do you want us to breast feed you and rub your stomach as we give you an exhaustive report on vacationing in the Philippines????
Get off your ass and do a freaking search. There's TONS of info on the Philippines here.
It is YOUR vacation. |

About 4 years ago my wife and I went, and I hate crowds to I did a bit of digging and Came across WHITE BEACH in Puerto Gallera. Now if you are interested theres some website where it tells you exactly how to get there, but basically you stay the night at a certain hotel and the bus picks you up at like 7 or 8 to take you to the harbour.
YOu jump onto a catamaran ( be ready for a bumpy 90 to 120 minute ride, where puking is a possibility) and the you get to a PRISTINE 3 or 4 km beach.
My wife and I went at Christmas, most people I EVER actually ON the beach was about 30. We made no reservations just figured wed get a spot when we got there. Walked into a place called the Grey Wall ( they have a website) and got a room with a tv, air con, lots of room, queen bed, and a decent bacthroom, for about 19 American a night. It was a 100 metere walk to the beach. The place had a nice private bar, and a decent swimming pool which we NEVER shared with anyone, not once, while we were there.
We were here for 12 days and swam in the pool everyday.
There about a dozen restaurants that serve you local fare and fresh fish for about 4000 won a plate, you can get pretty much any article of clothing you want for less than 5000, Awesome Massages an hour for 10 000 ( I paid them 15000 everytime and they were willing to come at ANY time to any place we were, all i had to do was call them on the number they gave me.
There is a golf course just up the hill costs about 2000 won to get there in a taxi, which you MUST take as the hill is just brutal to get up. I got 9 holes, clubs and a caddy for 10 000 won
My wife and i were there for 12 days, with flights, transfers, food, hotel, scuba diving, golf etc I think I spent 2 million won total. and HALF of that was flights.
Amazing people, we befriended the local scuba divers. They took us under their wing and we hung out with them and were fed by them on many nights.
This place truly had everything ( oh yeah and you can geta taxi to take you farther inland where you can go to a bunch of waterflls and nature stuff, as well as the "city" which is nothing special, but theres lots of shit to be had.
If you want to know any more PM me. If you leave your email i can send you some of the pics of the place.
If yo go there and dont like it Id be amazed |
