I'm going to be finished my job at the end of June, and if possible, I'd like to hang around Korea for some time (NOT WORKING) inbetween contracts . . . I hope on getting a job that'd start on August 25th.

I'm hoping on going to China for a week (exactly 2 weeks after my E-2 expires) and then return to Korea. Sometime after that I'd like to do a trip home to Canada to visit my family before returning to Korea and doing a Visa run for another E-2 Visa in Japan.

Has anyone done something like this in between jobs --- and NOT had immigration issues?

Everyone I talk to seems to have had issues with overstaying their visas. I'd really like to hang my hat in Korea in between my various trips . . . it sucks just being in Korea when I'm working, I'd like some time to explore and relax. [I'm thinking that if staying in Korea is possible, I'll probably just rent a Goshiwon for 2 months].

Any helpful advice?

If you plan everything ahead of time and don't wait until the last minute, I don't see why you'd have any trouble. Of course, with immi, you never know until you know.

For your stay AFTER your ARC expires, make a simple trip to immigration (before the expiry) with your ARC, passport and exit ticket. They will extend you for up to 30 days FREE of charge (non working extension).

You get a 6 month B2 stamp on your subsequent trips through immigration so overstay is not an issue for those.

Saves you all the hassle of an overstay and only takes a little of your time.
