There was a prostitution thread. It dissapeared. It was asking about prostitution in Korea and was not offensive yet it was taken down.

I posted asking why it was removed. That thread was removed.

Apparently so Dave's ESL can make money and pander to Korean clients we need to never mention that uncomfortable social subject now as moderator policy. Despite the fact that it once represented 4% of the national GDP and it is something people should know about Korean culture before coming here...

Way to look out for some other guy's (Dave's) pockets mods and not the teachers you claim to service.

I'd be ashamed of removing a harmless conversation for the sake of saving face for Dave's. Discussing prostitution in this country is just that, discussing a topic that concerns everyone of us who lives in Korea.

The newbies need to know double barber poles aren't for haircuts. Part of learning about Korean culture is taking in the good and the bad. What's next? You guys going to start removing posts that mention the won as being anything but below 1000 won to the dollar?

Oh well. I'll stop posting about this subject and use Dave's for selling crap. The axe goes both ways though. Some foreign teachers are responsible for getting the jobs posted for their repsective colleges/schools/etc. I know where I'll be telling my university to advertise this time around.

I was walkin to work the other day and thought how bizarre it was to live in a country that thought it acceptable to have places to 'service' me for a fee within 3minutes walking distance of like 95% of the subway stops in the city.

What if you live in rural Korea? Or aren't here yet. Granted, there are much better face to face mediums to have such a conversation. Those conversations are much more productive.

Still, it's a cultural fact. It's something we see every block. Removing all mention of it is effectively lying about its existence and common acceptance in this culture. It's pandering in order to service the bottom line. Conversation about it should be encouraged and not discouraged.

Many people cannot discuss this with their Korean co-workers. Issues like these for people who don't have other foreign outlets to acknowledge it are precisely one of the primary reasons forums like these are valuable.

The same goes for discussing the won's declining value. Discussing judicial racism within the country and how it's best to flee instead of stay anytime police are brought into something. Etc.

These are conversations you can have with Koreans and many people don't have access tot his information otherwise.

The criminalization of prostitution has created all of the serious problems that we see here in Korea and Internationally. Legalization would regulate and protect the industry, it's participants, and the general community.

Did you pm the mods and ask why it was deleted? It maybe in the sand box at the moment while the mods go over it and see what aspects of it can be saved
