Can anyone give me info on this?
When I was 19 I got charged with possession of a fake i.d. while trying to get into a bar. It was in New Jersey, where possession of a fake i.d. is a felony. I wasn't convicted, only charged and am wondering if anyone knows if I'll run into problems if that comes up on my CRC. |

You should go ahead and get your background check to see if it even shows up.
If it does, it may be possible to have it expunged, not sure.
Worst case scenario, you have something on your criminal record:
Korean immigration will make exceptions to things that they see as not affecting your ability to be a good teacher / visitor to Korea (it says this on the website). I don't know where they would stand on a fake ID. It's not like aggravated assault or a DUI.
You will have to explain it to a recruiter or possibly in an interview. I don't know what their attitude would be to such a minor offense but just having something on your record might make it more difficult to find a job. |

actually,
better yet.
Get the background check from somewhere else. Another county or state. PA might work fine.
I haven't done it. But I have read on here about people having done it successfully. |

Getting a background check from another state is going to look fishy at best. Immagration is going to look at your adress etc. and see the BR check is from another state.
I had a minor in possession of alcohol on my check. I was told by a cop many years ago that it was a non-recordable offense. Wrong! If you go to court for a hearing, there will be some sort of documentation on your record. I wrote a kiss ass note explaning the situation etc. and submitted it with the rest of the required documentation.
Honesty might be the best policy in this case! |

you should try getting the crc anyway in your city.
depending on where you were caught w/ the fake, it might not show up.
it depends on where you we re caught w/ it..
happened to my friend but it was in ny.
he was caught w/ a fake upstate and got a crc in nyc. |

can you just get a CRC from your state? or do you have to get a federal one done via fingerprinting? |
