It really makes you think...
My wife has had the flu for two days now, and is currently resting with a fever and a sore throat. I seemed to get by OK with just some simple body aches and a need to rest most of last night and this morning. I feel fine now, and spent the afternoon shopping. She's just at home taking it easy.
The night before this started, we watched a "super flu" show on Discovery Channel that we keep thinking about.
Korea admits that a fair number of people who were on the flight with the nun and the 2nd confirmed case weren't checked because they weren't found. It makes me wonder if the flu is out and about in Seoul. |

It could very well be the strain in question. Since it seems to be less severe outside Mexico we wouldn't know without testing. May is a strange time to get the flu, as well.
I'd go to a hospital if a had a skyrocketing fever or vomiting or diarrhea along with the aches and fatigue.
Swine Flu will certainly recombine and make things nasty in the future. We're lucky it doesn't seem to be shaping up into a deadly pandemic, but that's thanks to the "overreaction" of the WHO not in spite of it. |

I've had LOADS of mucus the past few days, way more than usual - I'm guessing that's a weather thing though. |

I bet some people who got swine flu just stayed home, were sick for a few days, and recovered naturally. It seems it affects different people very differently... |

People get the flu and I have had a bad one this week. The swine Flu thing is a fear campaign and Marlow is the biggest Chicken Little.
If you need to believe stories try to believe the positive ones.
Swine Flu is about fear and selling drugs. People die all the time from the flu. This one will die down and next year or 2 years later they will make up another one.
One problem is people start to get a disease after hearing about it so much.
Just chill out the sky is not falling. |

Yes, I'm glad you think that. I've repeated countless times how we're all going to die of Swine Flu. Probably before May is out.

Right. I'd rather not be one of them. |

I started a thread about a few weeks back questioning whether or not flu or cold-like symptoms can be distinguished from the amount of pollution (yellow Dust) etc. I now have cold-like symptoms again for the 3rd time in 5 weeks. Either it has come and gone 3 times, it's the same source and I never got rid of it or I have contracted something different 3 GD times.
I hate to beat this subject to death, but I absolutely never had this problem in the U.S. Maybe I am immunodeficient against Asian microbes. |

I had a bad cold about four years ago in the spring. Yellow dust, pollen, and pollution just didn't let my sinuses get better. |

Well, not CERTAINLY, but it's a weird one, apparently. Just in what I've been reading in the news--which I take with a grain of salt because news agencies have been digging up every Tom, Dick and Harry with an opinion just so they can pump out the next story--there are numerous interesting things to consider.
One thing is that it's a combination of bird, swine and human genes. Another thing is that it seems to be related to the 1918 flu (as in that flu is a distant ancestor of it--these things stick around). Another interesting thing is that apparently some pigs in Canada just caught it from a farm worker (I don't know what he was doing with the pigs ). Anyway, industrial farming is a ticking time bomb. I'm not going to lose sleep, however, as I find other current events more interesting. |

Well, I am feeling kind of tired and lethargic today. I am starting to feel a headache coming on, which probably means my body is moving on to the next stage of the flu.
My wife has felt feverish much of the day, but is up and around. She's got work tomorrow, but I don't. Sad we couldn't do anything together, as it was a gorgeous weekend, for the most part. |

I feel the headache too. I'm hoping it's just congestion. |

I noticed sick people in Seoul yesterday and today as well as on long distance buses. It makes me cringe. People shouldn't be sick in May. That's nutz, but we're seeing it this year. |

people get sick all the time - you are just noticing it more now because it's on everyone's mind - like when you break up w/someone - suddenly all you see are lovey dovey couples; I remember when I was pregnant it was like every woman I saw (ok every other one) was also pregnant.
worrying increases one's stress level which lowers one's immune response, so worrying isn't going to help. drink plenty of fluids, get exercise, take vitamins, same as one should always do. at the very least, if you do get sick, your immune system should be able to handle it. |
