Shawn, I worked on a Tourist Visa.

BERLITZ hired me and 3 other teachers from Japan to teach for them in Seoul.

We didn't know at first until one of the 3 teachers realized that our visas were not legal for working in Korea.

BERTLITZ only got us Tourist Visas - LOL!!

In fact, when I entered Korea, the Immigration officer at the airport took my passport, inspected it and then asked me what I intend to do in Korea. I was honest - I told him I was going to teach English. The guy gave me a dirty look, handed me my passport and let me enter the country.

BERLITZ was visited by the Immigration Dpt., the teachers arrested and deported and I would infer that some bullsh*t money was paid under the table so that they could continue their operation.

They continued to hire teachers on Tourist Visas even afer this. Relationships between big companies like BERLITZ and the goverment are quite deep it seems.

I have a C3 tourist visa. It's the official tourist visa. Still, I only get 90 days at a time, but it's good for 5 years. I've had this one 1 year. So far so good. Anyone ever get questioned on a C3?

Of course I'm now working though Smile

Did that when I first came to Korea, but that was a long time ago. Had a friend who did it so often the immigration people in Fukuoka knew him personally.

I find it hard to believe the results here. When I lived in in Seoul I met many Canadians on tourist visas. Hmm...
