Does anybody know the websites of any current and updated blacklists? It seems like all of the one's I have looked at are outdated.

Do not bother to waste your time on searching for blacklists.

Teachers' blacklists are unfortunately useless. I used to read them, but once I got here I knew better. Some people are greedy, lazy or just foolish, and their experience in Korea reflects on them. How does one separate the truth from the lies? <shrugs>

The first year in Korea is a leap in the dark unless you have personal contacts. Get through that first year and you can do better the next. Or cross your fingers to get lucky.

Yeah, I guess that is sort of the way I see it. I'm hoping that things will work out if I'm rational and reasonable. I think that being very interested in Korea and culture also helps. It does seem that there are some schools that seem not to work out for many people though, or close prematurely.

I tried to start a new, current blacklist. I asked everyone to send me their schools anonymously, and I only got these schools:

Talkster Foreign Language Institute
Geumsan-dong (EPIC)
Avalon Daejeon
Reading Town Daejeon

And so the mods don't get any ideas, these schools were blacklisted because they were TOO COOL.

Hey, thanks for the message. Sadly enough, I don't think I would be applicable for the Jet program if it requires all of those qualifications. I'm actually just somebody with an architecture degree that has a basic knowledge of Korean and an interest in Korean culture that is trying to make some money while waiting for the economy to improve in the U.S., (if it ever does).

I've been working with a recruiter to find a job. The first place I applied to I signed the contract and the employer found somebody new, it was at an ECC school. I'm now looking at a place in Gumi that teaches english to adults which seems more appealing. Basically I would be happy with a job that would be satisfied with my hard work, and didn't give me any political bullshit!

So you would avoid coming to Korea altogether? Are you in Korea right now? Are you happy with your job? It definitely makes sense that schools who want a teacher right away are just trying to fill a spot from a teacher that ran away. It's really too bad that it's not more professional in Korea, it probably scares away all the teachers that actually want to be there.
