This may already be somewhere on the forum, but the search function is not giving me anything, so I figure it won't hurt to start a thread.
Have any of you checked out Breaking Bad yet? If not, you really should. It's come out of left field last year and it's doing some brilliant things in story, comedy and, most of all, photography.
It's the story of a high school chem teacher learning he has terminal lung cancer. Being a poor shlub with a pregnant wife, a son with CP and a very short time left to live, he decides to use his knowledge of chemistry to cook meth in order to leave. Using his partner, a drop out from one of his old classes, to distribute the product, which is turning out to be the best product his area has every seen. He finds himself slowly rising in the underworld while trying to maintain a facade of a normal working class man to his family and friends.
The first season is a little rough as the show was getting it's sea legs, but the second season that is on now is the best show I've seen since The Wire. The director isn't afraid to let the DP do some really great things with his camera work and editing, the writers are showing some serious clout and the actors are mostly fantastic. In fact, the protagonist, of all people, is the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. Who know he had this in him?
Anyway, check it out, it's worth at least a look. I'll stop being a walking advertisement for it now and ask that this become a episode discussion thread like the LOST thread is. |

My wife turned me onto the show and we're addicted to it. I'm curious to see what they're going to do with Bob Odenkirk's character. |

THAT's how I know him. thank you! And to be fair, he's pretty awesome in Malcolm in the Middle. Remember when he becomes a speed-walker and buys that ridiculous outfit with the helmet thing??
Great show, just wish stupid megavideo would let me watch it in marathon style on rainy days. |

I agree. It is so good that I even enjoyed the edited version of the first season. I am waiting for the second season to finish, so I can watch it in one long viewing.
I really believe that this format of the adult serial shows is the way of the future. They are just so much more interesting than a regular movie. I also enjoy "True Blood" and "Mad Men." I am going to watch "Weeds" next while I download some BBC stuff. Also, the Australian show, "Summer Hieghts High" is quite funny in that "Office" kind of way. Jonah is hilarious! |

I'd like to see Mr. G try to cook...but Jonah could totally kick Jesse's skinny butt.
Yeah, the serials are getting good these days. Breaking Bad raises the bar.
This season has been awesome. Love "Tortuga..." Bit parts like that are a good way for an actor to get ahead in show business. |
