Many people here have Korean spouse, girlfriends/boyfriends, or supposedly good friends.
These people are exposed to us and can see that we are basically average dudes and not crazed perverted dope heads.
When the media does its usual racist taint every foreigner as bad routine, does your Korean spouse/friend do anything about it.
By anything I mean write a letter to the offending media outlet, or make a phone call, or lodge an objection with any relevant government department.
Most of us here, if we were back home and the media spewed a tirade that was derogatory towards our Korean spouses, would react with outrage, and stand up for our friends/spouses.
Do your Korean loved ones stand up for you or do they remain silent?

Goldmember - You posted this baby last night at about 7:30 PM. I guess nobody wants to touch this one. It's my opinion that most Koreans probably don't give a shit about news regarding how bad us "waygookin" are. I have not felt or heard anything about it from any Koreans. I think they are so busy with their cell phones, work, PC Bangs etc., they just don't have time to give a shit! I am also of the opinion that no female under 40 years old could peel herself away from a mirror long enough to read or watch the news!!

I don't bother with that B.S.

I find Koreans are very accepting people........they will accept most any situation without complaint.....unless their media gets them riled up about something. Then the candles and the riot police come out.

I noticed before I had 혼혈아 or mixed kids if you will...the wife would typically go along with whatever the media said about waygooks and usually not agree with my complaints. Her tune has changed quite a bit since having a couple "foreign" children of her own and now will actually take a defensive stance in those situations....

So have a couple of kids bro...she'll get on your side....

She didn't used to, until she started to notice how I get treated.

When teenagers cat-call me, she tells them off. She has also told off a few drunken ajosshis for trying to hug me, or say silly things to me. Par for the course.

My wife is only married to one foreigner and she, like me, doesn't give a damn about most other foreigners.

But what if those foreigners happen to be a part of the punk rock scene....are they cool?

Generally a lot moreso than your average random foreigner, with one or two exceptions.

My wife is not the type to write into a newspaper about anything, but if the injustice was in her face (like a store clerk or something) - she speaks up.

I find this thread pretty odd coming from Goldmember. For so long you've complained about Korea and were counting down the days until you left... and now you're gone and still interested in the place (?)

Planing on coming back, or do you just care so much about us??

And lives back home? Well then, I hope he writes into various publications when they show 'his wife's people' in a bad light.

What about foreigners that are into pop-punk (green day, offspring) as opposed to ones that are into more genuine punk like operation ivy, agnostic front, Black Flag...who would get the bigger head nod when walking by you on the street?

According to the thread on the shoddy quality of Korean apartments, he still lives in Korea.
