When I left Korea last I was going to Japan for a few days and then back to Korea before flying home. I wanted to keep my alien card so I left it in Korea while I went to Japan and told immigration that I would give it back when I left Inchon. They were not really happy but after telling me that I should be fined they decided to let me go.

Now i've heard that immigration may fine me when I come back into korea with a different E-2 (left 2 years ago) because i didn't give back me alien card.

Anyone had any experience with this or am I the only one who lies to immigration just so I can keep a funny little card with my picture on it and the words 'Alien Registration Card'.

Seeing as they issued you an new E-2, there shouldn't be a problem. The problem proabably would have arisen at the time of visa processing. But, I'm no expert.
