I've yet to have a good Bubble Tea in this country. Hard pearls, lack of flavors, lack of actual tea... If anyone knows a good place, I'd love to know where it is.

Given its popularity amongst the Asian communities in the U.S., I was surprised to see the almost total lack of it in Korea.

I think they are limited primarily to Taiwanese/Chinese enclaves. That's just my observations of Northern and Southern Cali, though.

I spent 7 months in China and they had it everywhere.
And in Taiwan? Like coffee shops in Seattle.
6 months in Japan yielded almost nothing.

My Korean friends laughed when I asked them about bubble tea, telling me (really patronizingly) that it went out of style a decade ago. You can still find it at those Shilla _____ (word I can't remember) bakeries.
