I'd like to prepare a series of classes for 3rd grade middle school about advertising language.
These classes would include watching Korean commercials and making English translations, watching North American commercials and dissecting the language and vocabulary, and possibly even making our own commercials in English.
Has anybody else taught classes on advertising? What's worked well, what hasn't?
Any other ideas to help? |

More times than I could ever count! Commercials are great!
Go HERE and download the Media Wise materials and asf video. This along with the Fact or Opinion sheets. also see my materials for lessons there with activities.
I also have a long blog post about Commercials in the classroom http://ddeubel.edublogs.org with tons of clickable links to the best commercials. Search under "commercials" Or just see in our A/V player under WATCH on EFL classroom 2.0 for even more, all downloadable (click the arrow beside the name).
I'd also recommend This PPT about Brands for a guessing game. But you can find more stuff about brands on EFL classroom 2.0.
Hope this helps.
