only just moved to Gangnam recently and whilst there are tons of restaurants, 7/11's, Mini Marts, coffee shops, clothes stores I'm having trouble locating any half decent supermarket for basic stuff like groceries/fruits/vegetables? I haven't seen any big Hyundai Dept Store/Grand Mart style buildings anywhere near Gangnam Station either.....do I have to make trips to E-Mart/Shinsegae etc and stock up everytime or if someone could point me in the right direction to some supermarkets that would be great! |

If you go out exit 3, walk toward Yangjae Stn. When you come to the first real intersection (Hooters, Poscucco Coffee), go right and a block or so up (2 lights) there is an Oo-san Mart (on your left) and a Hyundai Mart (straight ahead across the 6-way cross walk). Decent prices. Both are in basements. Its about a 10 minute walk from Gangnam Station. Best markets I found close to Gangnam Stn. and I worked around there for a year.
The other option is to take bus 462 to Banpo Stn or Express Bus Terminal and go to Kim's Club (direction AWAY from Yangjae, toward Non Hyun Stn). About 10-15 min ride. Might want to ask when getting off where Kim's Club is and just go the direction you are pointed. I didn't see it my first few times around there (it's in the basement of New Core Dept Store).
Or take 462 (plus a bunch of others) to Yangjae, then local green bus 08 transfer at Yangjae to Costco. Kind of a pain, but you can get all the goodies there.
Hope this helps. |
