I just came back from my lunch, so the guy in our group refused to eat peanut, cucumber in our lunch set.

"Why dont you eat cucumber?" I asked
"Its taste is plain." he said.

I have met many picky eaters in my life, eating with them could be painful sometimes, food they dont eat seems to vary illogically.

Setting aside vegetarians or those who are allergic to some certain food , I have the questions for the rest of you, what food you dont eat and why, and what made you a picky eater, have you ever tried to change yourself?

I've never liked fish. Maybe the smell of it cooking turned me off.

Anyway, I tried some salmon on the plane the last time I went to Japan and actually liked (not loved) it. I haven't ordered any, but if I'm with others who want seafood, I don't have to bail.

I dislike eating tomatoes. I neither like the taste nor the texture. If you disguise it in a sandwich, though.. I might eat it. But I will never just pick a tomato up and sink my teeth into it.. to me it's just gross. Razz

I miss having a garden, and chomping a sun-hot tomato right off the vine. Yum!

But, I won't eat ice cream with walnuts in it.

I don't consider myself a very picky eater, but I will never, ever eat a sea cucumber. Was offered one this past weekend by the sea...it was warty, at best.

Good call. I tried one, and it was disgusting. Taste, texture, everything.

Sea cumcumbers are not among the creatures God intended to be food.

Yams are another.

I don't care for sea cucumber either; it's what I imagine chewing on a tire would feel like. I also don't like 멍게 (sea squirt), 번데기 (silk worm), or 메뚜기 (grasshopper). I'm also not fond of raw oysters; I love them in a chowder, but not raw.

I hate tomatoes, most seafood, cauliflower (smells like farts) and strawberries. I hate lots of other shite but can't think of them right now.

My only slightly weird one is celery. I hate it! Just tastes bad to me.

I'm vegetarian (don't like the taste of meat), though, and also don't eat anything with more than a negligible amount of alcohol. If I can taste it, I don't like it. So no wine in sauces, salad dressings, cakes or truffles. The tiny bit in bread is OK. Just don't like the taste. Some people consider that weird, but more people think the celery thing is weird.

I don't like hot dogs, unless they're premium things like Ballpark franks on the barbie.

I don't like dog for dinner, but I'd love to have one over for dinner every night to be my best buddy ol' pal.

While I love cooked fish, I hate raw fish.

I don't like white sticky rice, I love long grain wild rice that's black and dark brown and grown in North America.

I don't like white flour, but I love whole wheat flour.

I don't like variable voltage, but I love electric companies that have a great regulator and capacity system in place on all 12,500v taps leading to residential transformers to step it down to a consistent 110v or 240v. Wink

I don't like airplane food, but some airlines can serve airplane food I like.

I don't like vinyl plastic to be used in growing vegetables, but I like having convenient light weight bags and rain coats.

Well the list can go on and on.

Yes, I would consider myself a picky eater. There are a number of foods that I frankly don't care for:

-Seafood - Yes, I have eaten plenty of seafood in my life. I simply don't care for the taste of it! Yes, I hate lobster, crab, and many of the delicacies that most others seem to love! I do like shrimp, and I am known to eat salmon from time to time.

-Mushrooms - I don't know why I don't like the little things. They are strange to me. When I was younger, I used to pick them out of things. If I am presented a slice of pizza or some spaghetti with them in it, I will eat it these days.

-Kimchi - This crap is foul! I can't stand it. I grew up eating eat. My best friend was Korean. I simply think it is disgusting.

-Thai Fish Sauce - This stuff is used on everything in Thailand. I don't care for it.

-Fried Bugs - They aren't delicious, and they don't go well with beer. I don't care what my wife says!

-Rice Cakes - The texture drives me crazy.

-Intestines of any kind - Mental block.

-Fertilized Eggs with Embryo inside - Again, mental thing.

-Spicy Papaya Salad - I can eat it, but I don't like it!

-Chicken Feet and Neck - Again .... this is disgusting.

-Liver - No good!

*There are more, but I think you get the point! Cucumbers are delicious though. Tomatoes are too!
