Done my contract in two weeks. No particular plans or places to be. Ticket out not paid. American passport. Little previous experience travelling.
Now on to the complete sentences -- anyone have any ideas what I can do with this? I'm looking at going through Vietnam and/or Thailand for a month. The weather seems pretty good; my only concerns are timing and not really knowing what I'm doing.
And what to do with my luggage. Shipping it home with fedex or something seems to be the only thing i can think of. |

Box excess things and post them home as you might have too much kwap to carry. It's Summer, unless going to Australia, so pack light. Research internet on what you want to do and do it like this weekend. Did you always want to see the pyramids of Egypt or travel the USA by Amtrak or float the canals of Venice in a gondola or go to Amsterdam for the legendary coffee shops? Then go on holiday for a few months. Travel is a bargain in the West as it's on sale like never before. Not sure about Australia expenses, but could probably get by reasonably. Hostels, guesthouses, and other cheap accomodation will stretch your money further. Don't even think about hotels unless it's a short trip or your hunkering down a big salary and bank account as accommodation is a controllable major expense to a certain extent.
You might try to get ticket within the next few days with a 1 or 2 month stop over in Bangkok headed for Europe or America or a RTW ticket though a RTW is much cheaper if originating in Europe or America so a one way ticket with stopovers is probably more practical and then try to get reimbursement for what a one way economy class ticket home actually costs before you leave if you stood a full year out in Korea.
That's my ideas. I gave it thought before I came and I'm going for a month stop over in London on my way to New York so that I can take a 1 week tour of Egypt from London and then 3 weeks in Western Europe. I dunno what to do after that. Gee....What's the economy and job market doing these days? |

But in any case, one of the main concerns i have is how to handle my luggage.
Boxes aren't a problem but I've got two pieces of pretty hardcore luggage that I'd like to make it home as well -- they're really sturdy stuff so I'd like to keep them around for some years. Would someplace like FedEx get them home, or would I have to look for other means? |
