[size=18]Hi, I am currently looking into applying to teach in South Korea but am slightly confused as to where to start! After doing a bit of research into locations and peoples past experiences I have decided that I would like to work in Seoul... or just somewhere that is generally quite city like if that makes any sense!....
I have found an agency that offers this. Reach to Teach... Has anybody heard of it? There are so many places out there to go through I just want to make sure I chose the right one.
I am also stuck between applying for GEPIK and SMOE.. could anyone outline the pros and cons for each?
I would greatly appreciate any help that you can offer... the deadline for applying to Reach to Teach is May 15th..
Thanks |

I only worked at a hagwon in Seoul, but I have worked outside of Seoul and can say it's not that bad. Transportation is easier on the west side of Korea.
After you have a contract, post it in the contract sticky and people will comment on the bad points. Unless you have a specific place in mind, I would start there. |

GEPIK is not Seoul...it's more the province wrapped around Seoul but a reasonable travelling distance to Seoul depending on where you're placed.
That leaves SMOE if you actually want to work in Seoul itself......for recruiters, I and many others on here in particular have used Rowan at ESL-Planet ... www.esl-planet.com/ContactUs.aspx.htm .very helpful bloke and will spend time answering your questions without getting impatient and lying to you like other recruiters...the other recruiters that have good reputations are Korvia (Joyce), Korea Connections. Good luck.
PS: If you're applying for Public School (assume you are), only use 1 recruiter. SMOE and GEPIK will reject you if the get more than 1 application. |
