I just got a new Samsung PDP today. It has an RGB input for the DVD player and a normal red, white, yellow (plus another blue and red inputs in the same row which aren't used) for the cable decoder. It also has what's indicated as DVI 1 and 2 inputs.
I also have a Wii that I play quite a lot. The installation guys said I would have to disconnect the cable any time I want to play it. This seems like a pain in the hole. Is there any way I can hook everything up??
Thanks! |

You can set the DVD player (most likely, unless it's really really cheap) to run using the S-video output, but you'll need an S-video cable. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Video
Or, you can use the Component output from the DVD player (assuming it has it). Your TV will have all of these inputs available. You may not need to purchase a cable... I often use a few red/white RCA cables and just leave one side on the 2nd cable unused -- as long as it makes the connection to the right colors, it's all good. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video
If you can use component, then use that. It's better. You may have to set your DVD player to output in these modes via the set-up menu. Same goes for the TV... you may need to assign these ports to an input within the TV. That's all done in the menus (some TV's figure it out automatically).
Then you can use your wii on the regular red/white audio and yellow video input. |
