This from the mouth a Korean man. My gf's co-worker at a bar is seeing a married man. He is 16 years older, and buys her a lot of expensive stuff, and gives her "pocket money". He said to my gf that 95% of Korean men have a mistress after marriage.

When I asked my gf what the wives think she said they don't like it but they "bare" it because they want to keep the family together.

I believe a majority have a mistress, but not 95%. Maybe 60% cheat with a non- "professional" woman . I know men who are engaged and have mistresses even.

P.S. Mistress does not include "prostitutes" in Korea. Also, bear in mind that adultry is still illegal.

Well, one Korean guy is hardly reliable. But, he may be generally right in that keeping a mistress is perhaps widely practiced.

Maybe that guy speaks from personal experience - 95% of the time he has a mistress.

Statistically-speaking, I find it almost impossible. But it does show a lot into the character of that guy and how he rationalizes his own behaviors.

i believe its a majority though 95% is high IMHO. I was teaching a class at the Kumho factory here and a guy asked me if I had a girlfriend and he knew i was married. He was shocked when I told him I didn't.

It stands to reason that the same amount of women are cheating also! It takes two to tangle! I have met many houswives who have cheated on their husbands; they always have told me,"well, my husband does it, so can I." Hey, it goes on all over the world. No one wants to admit it.

Intersteing..but I think 95% is a bit too high... and how many of these mistresses are actually prostitutes, and how many genuine "mistresses"?? I feel sorry for korean wives....

If 95% of all Korean men have mistresses I would assume that they must share ...

Look at it this way if 95% of all Korean men have a mistress (which I assume would mean that they are married) they are either sharing the remaining unmarried women or their mistresses are married as well.

There are simply not enough women (including imported Russian mistresses and female English teachers) to support a 100 to 95 man to mistress ratio.

It is statitically impossible.

Not only is it statistically impossible. But 95% of married Korean men are not that handsome, have extra money, have the time, or feel the need to maintain a mistress.

This would include just about every old man working the galbi restaurants, every old man doing his key business on the corner, every korean man playing korean cards on the streets, etc. Its just nearly impossible.

Even 95% of a rich successful businessmen who have tons of money, are extremely handsome, and can manage the time would even be highly unlikely.
