|
|
| I have been told by a recruiter to get all my documents together before they interview me because my departure date is still quite late. I've heard this is standard procedure, but how likely is it that I will get all my documents together only to be rejected by this recruiter? Does it happen often? I would hate to go through all this and then ultimately not be accepted by the recruiter...Any advice on what interviews are like? |

Assemble all the documents (but do not send them to Korea until after the interview) - you will need them no matter what. If the recruiter rejects you (highly unlikely... unless it's Footprints ), simply use a different recruiter! |

Yeah good idea, I am still going to get my local CRC done next week and contact my Korean Embassy to start the VISA process. I just got rejected after my interview by Footprints a week ago, but I was in the process of of applying with two other recruiters so it's a numbers game if you are serious about leaving set your target date and checklist. Most recruiters get up anywhere from 100-900 applicants in a 3 month term. You don't just stand out by your GPA or credentials but that helps imagine how many applicants have high GPA's and what not.
You stand out if you can get your CRC and Visa as well as original diploma over to them it's like the Amazing Race. I'm with Aclipse and I have contacted some other places directly and they all want diploma pic, crc, visa and you're off, so the sooner the better. |

There's not much you can do about your visa until you get hired by somebody. You will need a signed contract and a letter from the school, among other items. Ideally the recruiter facilitates all of this for you so all you will have to do is mail some things to the consulate to get the E-2 visa.
You could start getting your documents together, if that's what you meant. |

It depends on what you are interviewing for, PS or hagwon. Start by thanking them kindly for the interview opportunity then take the high ground and interview them. The more (hagwon) recruiters you speak to, the more you'll see how this works. If it's PS, I believe you're only to work with one? But YOU ask the questions, respectfully.
Remember to make sure you ask them for contact information for current and past teachers at the locations where they want to place you if contract offers are forthcoming. There's a list of questions to ask them (teacher references, not the school) here. |

thanks for the responses so far. Kikomom - were you referring to the interviews with the actual schools in Korea? i was more referring to just the interview with my recruiter, which i hope won't be too difficult. im just curious as to what types of questions a recruiter would ask, since they are not really "hiring" me necessarily.
i actually am gonna be on an F4 visa so i don't have to get all those documents together, apparently. should i just get the passport, visa, and diploma together and let my recruiter know when im done? my diploma won't be out for another several months as i am just graduating in a few weeks, but i have a early certificate of completion thing i can show them - hopefully that's enough? |
