Has anyone ever had a hagwon present them with 2 different contracts to sign? They gave me one that will be submitted with my Visa application, and then another from the school. The Visa one is written in Korean but has the supposed English translation beneath it. The school contract is in English. However, they are not the same. The Visa one specifies "no health insurance, no severance pay and no bonus." It also does not mention vacation at all. But the school contract has a clause for "severance pay, health insurance, bonus and vacation." This can't be normal. Thoughts anyone? This seems fishy to me and I am reluctant to sign either. |

This sounds like one of those after school scams.
Do NOT sign either contract.
Two contacts at the very least indicates some kind of illegal activity or fraud. You are likely to wind up as one of the victims if you sign. Run.
If this offer came from a recruiter, do not use him again either. Get a new recruiter. |

Of course it's' fishy'. Only the Korean language version 'counts' and they are trying to (illegally) get you to sign a contract that will make you an independent contractor.
Tell them to "Shove it". |

If you have to ask if this is 'fishy' - you're going to be 'eaten alive' here.
Good luck. |
